Grammy-Nominated Band Takes the Cannery Casino & Hotel Stage September 28
LAS VEGAS – Scottish funk and R&B standouts Average White Band bring their timeless style to The Club at the Cannery Casino & Hotel, 2121 E. Craig Road, North Las Vegas, Nev., at 8 p.m. on September 28. 2013.
Average White Band is best known for its mega-hit “Pick Up the Pieces,” which climbed the charts to No. 1 in 1974. After that smash single, Average White Band had a series of soul and disco hits over the next few years. The group’s catalog also includes hits “A Love of Your Own” and “Cut The Cake.”
Though its most acclaim came for “Pick Up the Pieces,” the band draws its strength from consistently accomplished songwriting, stretching across several Gold albums and multiple Grammy nominations for Atlantic Records. Average White Band also is known for being sampled by artists across numerous genres including hip-hop and rap.
The band’s lineup includes founding members Onnie McIntyre (guitar, vocals), Alan Gorrie (lead vocals, bass, guitar), as well as Fred Vigdor (sax, vocals, keyboards), Rocky Bryant (drums), Brent Carter (lead vocals), and Morris Pleasure (keyboard, bass, guitar).
